MEET SAREETA YOUNG

FOUNDER | CEO | LEAD CREATIVE PRODUCER

A MULTI-HYPHENATE CREATIVE, SAREETA YOUNG BEGAN HER CAREER BEHIND THE CAMERA IN 2013 AND FOUNDED BLKREELS IN 2021. SHE IS AN AWARD WINNING FILMMAKER & PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER AS WELL AS A GRADUATE OF UCLA’S FILM & TELEVISION PROGRAM.

YOUNG IS KNOWN FOR HER WORK AS CINEMATOGRAPHER ON THE AWARD WINNING SHORT FILM SON OF OAKLAND & ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR THE BLACK JOY STORY WINDOWS DOCUMENTARY PRODUCED BY OAKLAND CENTRAL.

SHE IS ALSO RECOGNIZED AS CONTRIBUTING EDITOR ON THE AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY ASCENDANCE, AND HAS CAPTURED ARTISTS LIKE COMMON, GOAPELE, AND ASHANTI AS A CAMERA OPERATOR AT MUSIC FESTIVALS.

SAREETA YOUNG HAS BEEN ON PRODUCTION TEAMS THAT HAVE RAISED OVER $50K IN DONATIONS FOR NONPROFITS IN THE BAY AREA AND AS A FILMMAKER, SHE SPECIALIZES IN CAPTURING CULTURAL MOMENTS & CREATING IMPACTFUL VISUAL IMAGES.

SHE IS CURRENTLY A FILM EDUCATOR AT BERKELEY CITY COLLEGE AND ENJOYS GIVING BACK BY HOSTING COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS.

In collaboration with JusVibe, our Annual Black Women Film & Creatives Brunch and Mixer is an event curated to celebrate, connect, and uplift professionals across the creative and entertainment industries. This experience is designed to spark meaningful connections, community, and collaboration.

The annual event features panelists who spark inspiration, insight, and joy into the room—sharing their journey and encouraging Black women to continue thriving and taking up space in these industries.
